The Greatest Love Of All
February 2010

February is already here, the month of love. Of course this holiday of Valentine’s

Day comes from pagan roots, but I guess it is a lot better than having a hate day or

something like that. Our world needs all the love it can get. Not fake love, or some

cheap imitation of love.  They need the real, genuine, sincere love that only comes

from Jesus Christ. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life

for his friends ( John 15:13 ). The greatest love of all is the love Jesus Christ gives.

Notice I didn’t say the love that Jesus Christ gave, as in, at Calvary. I intentionally

said gives, because Jesus Christ still loves us just as much as He did when He died

for us! We need to fully understand this powerful & wonderful truth.  Parents have

never given their children a love greater than this love. Children have never given

their parents a greater love than this love. Spouses have never given to each other a

greater love than this love. The love that shed innocent blood, the love that pardons

all sin, the love that keeps coming even when it is not returned or even appreciated

is without question the greatest love of all! Love is missing in our world. Love can

not be found in most homes today, not nearly the way it was just a few decades ago.

Parents don’t love their children, children don’t love their parents, & spouses don’t

love one another like they should. It’s sad, it really is, but it’s also exactly what the

Bible said would come to pass in the last days. “And because iniquity shall abound

the love of many shall wax (turn) cold” (Mat. 24:12). The Apostle Paul also said the

world would be without natural affection ( II Tim. 3:3). Tell me these signs haven’t

already come to pass. Tell me our world doesn’t need love. The world needs to see

this great love in our lives, in our families, in our church. We can not just tell them

we have the greatest love of all, it’s vital that we show them the greatest love of all!
